Lorac Eye Candy Full Face Collection

I got this set from Sephora when it first came out but for whatever reason the pictures I took got lost. Out of the blue it has resurfaced so I wish to share (please indulge me :). This set is exclusive to Sephora and it is now sold out, however, if you’re still looking for one I saw a set available at Bonanza for double the price (yikes!).

Quick note about the collection…The eyeshadows are velvety, finely milled, easy to blend. I didn’t experience any fall out and creasing. I didn’t experience fading as I seldom wear makeup longer than 7 hours. With the cream eyeliners, I love the color selection in this set. They were creamy, easy to apply. They are not long lasting though. The cheek and lip tints is a wonderful quad of cooler pink, warmer pink, nude mauve, and a cranberry-ish shade. They are creamy and easy to blend on the cheeks. I’m not happy with the lack of staying power. On the lips, it’s not overly drying but it’s definitely not hydrating. So the liner and cheek & lip tint are not the best things in this collection but I’m more than happy with the four eyeshadow palettes.

When I saw this Lorac for Fall 2012 palette on Sephora, I immediately knew I have to have it. It’s a wonderful mix of colors not necessarily nude or neutral but can be made nude or smoky.

I think it’s brilliant that they grouped the matte shades on the top row and the shimmery shades are grouped together as well.

The matte shades are pretty pigmented. Blendability is not an issue. Texture wise, all matte shades are pretty smooth with the exception of white and black. I would say that the colors are not at all that unique. It can be duped but overall as a palette, it deserves a triple look. This palette does have the ability of being that one thing you can take on your vacation.

Moving on to the shimmer shades. The shades are some of the most gorgeous colors one can pop on the eyelids. The texture is better than the matte shades (no shock there). It’s really divine to apply them to the eyes. And the range of shades is really good to achieve a barely there look to a dark smokey look.

I love this palette. I feel that this can be the ultimate one thing you can stash in your makeup bag for any kind of trip. With 16 shades, you can definitely create a variety of looks. They did include a primer potion but I feel like it didn’t really help when it comes to the staying power of the eyeshadows. In California 103 degree weather, it didn’t even stand a chance. By the 4th hour there was already significant fading. Using NARS Smudge Proof Eye Primer did help extend it’s staying power to 7 hours before I had to remove it. I’d say that’s really good. Packaging is pretty solid (if you can call it that), considering it is made of paper/cardboard with a magnetic closure (reminiscent of the original  Urban Decay Naked palette). It is thin enough so it is definitely travel-friendly.

And on to my favorite part… getting to actually play with it! This picture is taken with an iPhone under fluorescent lighting. I chose this picture versus the photo I took outdoors in the shade because it shows the eyeshadow better.
