Le Metier de Beaute x Net-a-Porter Fashion Eye Collection Palette

~purchased by me~

Is it new or is it new?

#LMDBxNetAPorter

I almost fell on my seat when I saw Le Metier de Beaute’s Facebook post yesterday. Nude? LMdB? In a flat non-kaleidoscope palette? Sign me up. But then, as I headed on over to Net-a-Porter’s page and read the shades in this beautiful thing I realized that I have all of these shadows as singles.

I know it does not look exactly like the stock photo but if they are just re-promoted, re-packaged eyeshadows then this is it. I have all of them. Now, I would not call this a nude palette. I would probably call this “Everyday Essentials” or “Ultimate Day to Night”. Besides nude is so overrated. If you want nude may I suggest Becca’s Ombre Nudes Eye Palette which retails at $40 over at Sephora.

PRO

  • a great value considering there are  8 shadows and a brush (singles are $30)
  • prefer flat palettes over the kaleidoscope
  • perfect intro palette to those who want to try LMdB but have never bought anything in the past
  • the quality is top-notch, creamy, finely milled shadows, does not crease, last a long time on the lids and would last longer with the right primer, no fall-out, blends like a dream

CONS

  • for me? I already own the singles…boohoo 😦
  • the price can be an issue

Chanel Joues Contraste in 160 Innocence

~ purchased by me ~

#chaneljc160innocence

My only pick from Chanel’s Fall 2014 Beauty Collection, Collection Etats Poetique, is this beautiful Joues Contraste powder blush in Innocence.

#chaneljc160innocence

This slightly warm pink, matte blush is devoid of shimmer. Perfect for everyday wear. The texture though is not what I have come to expect of Chanel Joues Contraste. It is slightly drier than usual, therefore you need to dig in a little bit to get some product on your brush. While this may prove to be disappointing for some, it may just be what the doctor ordered for those heavy handed makeup newbies. It’s hard to overdo it with this color and texture.

#chaneljc160innocence

While the texture is not superb, I find myself using it often to give myself that pinched cheek flush. At $45 each, it is expensive for a product that’s not up to its usual quality. Color is not that unique so I suggest finding a dupe. Or you can check out the comparison swatch below and maybe you would find Rose Petale or Rose Initiale more to your liking.

Here’s a variation of my usual everyday face. I believe I have Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Cocoa smudged on the lid, Chanel Joues Contraste Innocence on the cheeks and Fresh Lip Gloss in Rose on the lips.
