This is a very lengthy blog post and very picture heavy so please bear with me.
I recently went to my favorite Nordstroms and was surprised to see the Desert Twilight Collection already out.
Of course I got excited (makeup fund is not, btw). So let me show you my picks.
Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette
According to Nordstrom.com:
The essence of late summer in eight sultry shades for that tawny, glowing skin that happens just before dusk. It’s a mix-and-play palette of neutral shadows to transition you effortlessly through the seasons, including a light base shade, six medium lid shades and a dark liner shade. It also includes a dual-ended eyeshadow and eyeliner brush, all in a sleek mirrored compact so you can apply everything like a pro.
Okay, I swatched the shadows using a sponge tip applicator. And I use it because it picks up color right away and heavily. I usually do 3 swipes to achieve a heavy swatch but as you can tell from the above pictures the colors are not showing no matter how many times I try to build up. I’m sure it’s going to be better with a primer but I usually swatch without a primer because I fell like a good quality product should be able to stand on its own. Also, there are 8 shadows in this palette, 3 of which is metallic, 2 shimmer and 3 matte (I think, don’t kill me!). Seriously? The metallic shadows can’t stand on its own unless you just want the sparkle effect, 3 in a palette is really too much. Pulling off multiple looks with this palette would be a challenge, at $60 I would like to have more useable pigmented colors and less of the metallic/shimmer ones.
I was told by my fave Bobbi Brown SA that the Creamy Color for Cheeks & Lips is a new introduction to the brand so naturally I wanted to try and see if it would work on me.
According to Nordstrom.com …
Buildable color that blends with ease, the dual-purpose formula provides medium coverage for both lips and cheeks in a convenient, fuss-free tube. Wear it alone for a muted flush of color or layer it with your favorite blush for richer depth, the intensity is all up to you. Feels creamy yet sheer on skin and makes transitioning season to season a breeze thanks to two ultra-versatile shades.
I was able to try Pink Truffle on my lips at the store and I like it. It’s definitely creamy, not drying but not moisturizing either. It does dry down to a light stain which is good. In the promo picture the model is wearing Pink Truffle with High Shimmer Lipgloss in Bronzed Heather layered on top. I also got to try this combo and the resulting look is pink nude perfection. Photo of that look to come soon. On the cheeks, Pink Truffle provides that pink flush on the cheeks. It’s very blendable and buildable so you can customize it’s shade. Honeyed Tea on the other hand almost disappears on my cheeks in my NC30 skin tone but makes a lovely lip base instead of using concealer or foundation.
This award winning long wear gel eye liner has a cult following and rightfully so. It truly lives up to it’s name and this new shade definitely smokifies (if that’s even a word) the eye without me having to use black or any dark eyeshadow. It is a black plum with golden pearl shimmers (I think is what you call them).
According to Nordstrom.com
This award-winning liner gives you the look of liquid liner with the ease and feel of a gel formula. Long-wearing, water-resistant color glides on and lets you get it just right before it dries—then stays without a smear or crease until you take it off.
To apply: Dip tip of Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush into gel formula (coat both sides of brush head). Wipe off excess on tissue before applying to eye. Work quickly as product becomes transfer-resistant once dry. To remove, use Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover.
I chose this among the six shades that came with the collection. It’s a pink nude with gold flecks that works really well with my skin tone.
According to Nordstrom.com
Bobbi’s new lip gloss combines gorgeous, light-catching shimmer with lasting, non-sticky shine. Made with fine pearls and clear pigments, High Shimmer Lip Gloss stays color-true and gives lips beautiful, brilliant dimension. Plus it’s enriched with emollients and vitamins C and E to moisturize, condition and protect lips, so they feel as good as they look. Whether you wear it on its own or on top of your favorite lip color, the new tapered applicator lets you apply it like a pro.

Desert Twilight 2012 Lipgloss (from left to right): Honeysuckle Lipgloss, Evening Rose Lipgloss, Twilight Shimmer Lipgloss, Pink Sunset Shimmer Lipgloss, Firefly High Shimmer Lipgloss and Bronzed Heather High Shimmer Lipgloss
When I went back to Nordie’s I decided to swatch all the lip gloss that was part of the collection. As I’m doing this blog post, I am now wanting to get Honeysuckle and Twilight. Lovely pink nude shades that knows no season so I will get a lot of use out of it. I am really loving the Bobbi Brown lip gloss formula. Depending on the formula, it gives me color when I want color and high shine when I am in the mood for one.
The collection is now available on bobbibrowncosmetics.com, online and in-store at Nordstrom.
Thoughts on the collection? Are you going to indulge in it? Have you already indulged in it? Do share…

This is my first blog post on a seasonal makeup collection. I learned that it takes a very long time to prep all those pictures and to actually assemble the blog post. Since I buy the makeup that gets featured on CogitationProject.com I have to keep in mind that I will be featuring it and my choices reflect my taste. So here it is…
This isn’t coming out here till July, so I haven’t seen it yet! I do like how the Creamy Colors swatch, so I’ll for sure check those out when I’m at the counter!
