Le Metier de Beaute Golden Gate Girl with swatches and FOTD

Le Metier de Beaute Golden Gate Girl, colors from top to bottom are satin rose petal pink, pale amethyst, warm rhubarb & sunny cinnamon gold

When I called Saks in San Francisco and placed my order, I was greeted by Richard and Kimberly who were both very warm and accommodating. However, I was greeted with surprise when I opened the package with my very own Golden Gate Girl. I took time taking pictures because of my surprise gift and the fact that everything looks perfect, undamaged and undisturbed. I know of people receiving their packages tattered like this lady on tPF…click HERE.

Take a look…

Before I go into my FOTD, I just wanted to say that this k-scope took me by surprise. I bought it because my gut told me to. I’ve never been disappointed with any of the k-scopes that I bought and so I had hopes and after ordering I never thought much about it. I was really pleasantly surprised when I started swatching it because not only were the colors very rich and pigmented alone but when layered it transforms into a pink copper – ish or a coral copper depending on how light or heavy you apply any one of the individual shades. Really the possibilities are endless and this k-scope had me in love at first couches de couleur. Let’s take a look at the swatches…

  1. I had a consultation with Richard last weekend and picked up the GGG kaleidoscope. I agree, it ends up with a surprisingly beautiful color. I didn’t think it would go the way of pink. He also filled in my eyebrows and that worked great with the lighter eye color.

I was initially a bit worried because I thought the purple was like the Penelope purple, but the layered effect is totally different so I’m a happy camper.

    • I’m glad you picked up GGG. I’ve been using it more often than I thought I would be. It’s the perfect versatile shade for spring. Are you planning on picking up any other items from them?

      • I got all 3 kaleidoscopes, eep! Was not planning to get the Short Hills. But your posts tipped me over haha! I may get the blush this weekend, and prob the Summer one too when it it out. Thanks very much for the fotd posts, very helpful since I’m similar in coloring to you.

          • I’m in San Francisco (double edged sword because although shipping is not a problem, I have no excuse not to get everything) Do you get singles or mostly stick to the kaleidoscopes? I’d love to know which singles you like if you have them.

            • Seriously, if I can I will relocate my family there. I love that city. Planning on going back once school’s out. I started collecting the kaleidoscopes late last year but I have just begun on building my collection of singles. I’ll do a blog post on my favorite singles. Got to give those singles some love soon. Have you ventured on the singles yet?

              • Just a few singles, my favorites are spicy + innocence. Despite its popularity I am not crazy about corinthian. I was thinking of getting a purple and a blue, not sure what would work with me, maybe I’ll ask for help next time I am at the counter. Le Metier (eyes) and Rescue Beauty nail polish are my cosmetic addictions, they’re great!

                • You know, if you have Silk Road, Mikey has used both to take SR to another level. SR + Spicy on top = full on party/glamour look. I love it! I own corinthian as well and it’s just ok on our skin tone but for the really fair skin tone, it’s amazing.
If you’re looking into blues, I suggest Lapis and Midnight Sky. They are both gorgeous blues. Mikey used Innocence-Lapis-Midnight Sky-Goldstone on the video that was featured on Zuneta. It’s a gorgeous combination.

                  • I do have Silk Road, I’d say it was one of my favorites if I didn’t love all of the kits 😀

That Zuneta video is terrific, thanks so much for the tip. I’ve been wondering about the *Mikey* way of using the pen liner and finally I get to see a video. I think I am going to pick up Lapis, Midnight, and Goldstone this month. Looking forward to more of your posts (Le Metier and not).

  2. So pretty! Which of all the three new kaleidescopes are your favorite? I am leaning towards Shades of Short Hills……thoughts? Also, do you think the pink and the rust color in this k-scope are dupes from antique poupee. Love that you post the swatches AND a FOTD, as we can truly see the affect of layering. Also, you and I probably are similar I coloring.

    • Shades of Short Hills was my first choice among the three that came via Saks. It’s the perfect nude palette that can go from work to night. You know, I’m so new to this beauty/makeup thing and I’m finally getting the hang of it. Though I don’t really do proper reviews, I would like to do my version of a complete post, that is pics of the featured product, swatches and eotd or fotd. Did you get any of the kscopes? What’s your fave?

      • Short hills ended up being my fave- the perfect nude, indeed! I’m still on the fence with Golden Gate Girl and will have to play with it a little more…….. Still waiting for On the Coast 🙂

        • I take it that you’re in San Francisco? Let me know what you think of OTC. On the subject of dupes, the pink color is quite not the same. One is lighter than the other but the rust shade could be dupes. I’m hoping we don’t see lots of dupes in the near future.
